What Are We Looking At ?

It was a Thursday night.
I was walking back to my rooms. There was a family walking a few paces ahead of me:
husband, wife and their five-year old son walking in between them.

The road ahead was a straight one. It was clear night. A full moon had risen just above the horizon.
It was a beautiful sight. and I was looking at it, mesmerized.
The kid too must have seen it, because he exclaimed," बाबा, तो बघा चांदोबा!!"

The father murmured something, but the mother shouted,'' अरे, नीट खाली बघून चाल रे.... धडपडशील नाहीतर!!"

The kid never once looked up at the sky till they reached their apartment.

I felt a bit sorry for the kid, and a bit angry towards the lady. No doubt, her reprimand had
come out of concern for her child. But in doing so, she had prevented him from savouring one of the beautiful sights in the world.

What would have happened at most? The boy might have stumbled on to something and
might have had a fall. But parents were there to take are of that.

When we keep looking at only at the obstacles in our path,
we often lose sight of our true goal.
But if we are focused on our goals,
there is God with us to care our care.

MdN Year 2004

Hi,
Well, 2004 is drawing to a close, and this is a time when even the most insensitive person finds himself/herself doing some retrospection about a year gone by.

I request all of you to put down a few bits n bytes of your account of this year. You may write about some specific incident or some person that might have influenced your life significantly. You can write about your joys and worries.

Perhaps you would be apprehensive about sharing your personal thoughts with strangers. but believe me, it would really benefit you. As humans, we have a lot in common. Our worries may seem unique to us, but someone might have something to say which would give you a new perspective.
You can also write about national and international events, personalities which you feel have made an impact India and world at large.

Please do come forward and share your thoughts, ideas, views, aspirations, and feelings.
Yours,
Gautam.

A Thought….. On Thoughts

Just the other day, I was thinking abt the very nature of our thoughts.  I have a few queries, and perhaps some of you may enlighten me about it.

  • What exactly are thoughts ?
  • Do they have a mass ?
  • If two brains are taken, both of equal physical dimensions (such as mass, size, structure, etc ) , but one among them that of a genius (like Einstein) , and other one that of a ignorant fool, then based on knowledge in them, will there be a difference in their weights ?
  • Or are thoughts just a stream of energy ? But then, what happens to this energy when we "forget" something ?
  • The reason I am thinking of this is, if thoughts have mass, doesn't it mean that it should be possible for them to be 'captured' and 'stored' and 'transferred' like any physical object?

I know this sounds a bit fuzzy , hope you get the gist of what I mean to say .
